The Mailbag – Memorial Day.

27 May 2019

Matt’s Marvelous Mailbag seeks to provide marginally adequate answers to much better questions about politics, economics, social life, theology, or any potpourri you see fit to have answered. Send questions to mailbag.bereans@gmail.com.

Well, the title is pretty much the post for the week, and you’ll notice the lack of an exclamation mark in the title this time, which I think is only appropriate given the occasion. In many ways, we ought to be thankful for holidays like this one, especially when our modern sensibilities are ill-tuned to sobriety and somber reflection. However you commemorate this day, I only have three recommendations for you:

  1. Be respectful.
  2. Be reflective.
  3. Be thankful.

For my own part, I think I’ll dedicate this post to my late grandfather, Emory Reamsnyder, a Navy man himself and a most cherished individual. Here’s to you, Papa.

By the way, if you’re looking for an appropriate read today, I’d suggest this one from the WSJ.
