Dr. Haymond, are you saying that, in the interest of keeping our leaders from being distracted, we should not investigate them when something seems wrong? Also, even if it were demonstrated with ironclad proof that Trump did something impeachable, his supporters would still raise Cain over it. I agree that we should not undermine a legitimate election, but in the case of Trump and his supporters you would face the same stiff resistance whether he deserved the investigation or not.

Do you think there’s a difference between using the electoral process to elect our president and using the electoral process to elect people with the goal of unseating him? I feel like a dramatic swing in Congress is at least as representative of the electorate as a presidential election. What is the difference in your view?

Is the Stormy Daniels angle connected to the investigation at all? I thought these were separate legal problems Trump is dealing with.

  Absolutely. “when something seems wrong” is such a subjective idea. When the opposing party cannot come to terms with reality, that they lost an election due to a very unelectable corrupt candidate, after their party abandoned (and in many cases denigrated) white working class members and their values, and instead have a fantasy that somehow “the Russians did it,” and that gets to the level of “something seems wrong?”
  
  There is a process for actual crimes, and a political process with respect to crimes by presidents (e.g., impeachment by congress). Its not to hire a special prosecutor to effectively go fishing and see if he can find anything. I believe this is very detrimental to our democratic process; and if actually ever successful, would be very dangerous. I wish Mr. Trump were not president (although I’m still quite pleased that he is president instead of Mrs. Clinton); we need to saddle up and find a replacement in the 2020 election. Hopefully a more faithful conservative will step up to challenge him. Until then, the Russia thing is ridiculous.

    I believe you’ve summarized it and stated the case well in this reply. There’s been too many repeated attempts of contesting elections after a candidate has clearly won and this is now followed up with attempts to unseat a democratically elected, sitting President on ostensibly trumped up charges (pun intended), that is, solely as a political power grab. Does Banana republic come to your mind as a comparison? This isn’t healthy for a democracy no matter how you slice it.

  There is one thing I’m interested here–if there is proof that someone threatened her with physical harm. Absent that its a joke too. I had a downtown meeting earlier in the day, and driving down I-75 I saw on one of the electronic banners an add for Stormy Daniels. I guess her tour is coming to Dayton. Can anyone not see her story as compromised?

At the risk of being a broken record, what’s the difference between electing a Congress with the explicit goal of removing the president and electing a different person to be president, in terms of expressing the popular will, in your view? It seems to me that both are exercises in democracy.

The basic problem I see here is the corruption of our judicial system, specifically our federal judges. And even more specifically, Obama appointed judges. These judges are political operatives simply rubber stamping the desires of their handlers. As evidence of this just look at two things. One, the repeated abuses of the FISA court process. And two, the 80+% reversal rate by SCOTUS of many of the most liberal federal appeals courts. As in the Bible, when the judges of a country become corrupt, the nation falls under judgement. When agents of law enforcement like McCabe, Comey and Mueller become utterly corrupt, the whole course of justice becomes perverted. That’s what the American people are beginning to see. Mueller is a prosecutor in search of a crime, any crime
Incidentally, how do you suppose our public servants mentioned above are worth between $11-18M on sub $200k incomes with DC living expenses. Hmmm?

From observation ever since the election, the Democrats, and even some Republicans who can’t stand Trump, have taken many avenues of attack trying to unseat him. To me it looks more like a petty act of revenge, sore losers, and power grabbing than a concern for the country. If he has LEGITIMATE impeachable issues then we need to pursue that, but this has gone on for over a year now and nothing has surfaced. It’s basically a game of if this attack fails move on to the next with no regard to the lives and reputations they destroy in the process. Basically if a problem does not exist that can lead to the removal of the President, their goal is to bait a trap and create one. I agree with what Theophilus said above, if you are desperate to unseat him then elect another person. Now I don’t agree with electing congressional representatives just to impeach him. You just have to wait till the ’20 election to vote him out.

How much power does the justice department have to pierce the veil of attorney-client privilege. What does it really protect people from if not everything that happens between the two?

  Always plea the fifth. You have nothing to gain by giving the prosecution more information. This shouldn’t be taken to mean more than it does.
