About
Acts 17:11
“Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.”
We are Christian professors who thought it might be a good idea to start a blog. Boy, aren’t we hip? We are only a mere decade behind the times, but here we are. We pray we are able to withstand what is sure to be an ocean full of followers. In fact, if we do not hear our argyle wearing colleagues squealing the next time we walk into a department meeting, we will consider this endeavor a massive failure.
In reality, the blog is dedicated to exploring matters of politics, economics, history, law, and culture from a distinctly Christian perspective, though we will not always pretend this is the case. We all care passionately about an appropriate use of Christianity in general, and biblical teaching in particular, in understanding and commenting upon the times in which we find ourselves.
We hope to live up to the description of the Bereans who were known for their careful examination of God’s Word. We hope to use the insights we find to peacefully storm the gates that surround our fallen culture. Instead of barbarians, we are Bereans @ The Gate, but those who disagree with us may find us barbaric to their own sensibilities.
