Piketty’s Predicament

24 Jun 2014

For those who don’t want to read the book, there is  nice article by Jonah Goldberg in the June 24, 2014 issue of National Review Online.  If you just woke up from a long, long nap or just returned form an isolated vactaion spot, you will remember that in April of this year, the book Capital in the Twenty-First Century, by the French economist Thomas Piketty, was released in English translation to great fanfare among the Left.  Since then, it has received, as expected, praise from those same Left individuals, and quite a bit of criticism from the Right on various grounds–factual, as well as philosophical and economic.  Goldberg’s article is entitled “Mr. Piketty’s Big Book of Marxiness,” an apropos title, and in line pretty much with my own reviews.  I would recommend this very well-done, though a bit long, review.  Goldberg shows he has some intellectual prowess.
